Inspired by Susan’s lifelong appreciation for birds and by combining her ceramic art with her appreciation for birds and nature, Susan hopes that viewers will take a fresh look at abstract art, ceramic sculpture, and where we find birds—in their natural habitats—and in our own daily lives and imaginations.

Founder of the Women of Color Quilters Network and a celebrated fiber artist in her own right, Dr. Mazloomi will discuss this recent body of creative work which features an impressive series of large-scale art quilts reflecting the lives of Black civil rights activists, leaders, and revolutionaries who shaped American history.
