NEMAA introduces 30 hometown artists of various disciplines, representing its 1,400+ member artists
ART-A-WHIRL® CELEBRATES ITS 30TH YEAR! 1,400+ artists to welcome art lovers to Northeast Minneapolis, May 16-18
Mother Tongue (2025) is a documentary film and project that uses food to unlock personal narratives around matrilineal lineage and place. In September 2024, Mary Prescott invited five Twin Cities cultural workers — Kao Kalia Yang, José A. Luis, Ifrah Mansour, Eyenga Bokamba and Dr. Kate Beane — to a potluck dinner to explore the deep connections between food, community, and family.
In this episode of Sanguine Arts’ Locavart, host Mary Prescott interviews artis Eyenga Bokamba, who discusses her journey as a visual artist and her commitment to exploring themes of beauty, resilience, and social transformation through her work.
When Eyenga Bokamba speaks about her work, you don’t just hear an artist talking about paint—you hear a deeper conversation between creativity, identity, and community. The Minneapolis-based multidisciplinary artist has built a career on abstraction, using layers of acrylic, watercolor, calligraphy ink, and mixed media to explore the nuances of being.
