The Daily Commute

The Daily Commute is a hand-printed silkscreen. The image size is 9.75″ by 13″. The paper size is 12.75″ by 16.25″. The image is printed on Stonehenge, a cream colored paper that is archival. This image is available unframed and shrink wrapped or framed with an  archival mat that matches the paper and a brushed gold frame with UV filtering glass.

The Daily Commute  is the endless minutia of brain wave activity occurring while commuting. 70’s and 80’s rock, road kill, coffee shops, gas stations, abandoned store fronts, donut shops, cyclists, cones, detours, large box stores, back-ups and endless rabbit sightings.

This silkscreen was completed at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. It is printed in 7 color layers. The colors are black, blue, red, tan, brown, green and gray. The initial layer, the black, is drawn with black ink on tracing vellum and then scanned into the computer where it is touched up. Each of the other layers is drawn on the computer using a mouse. The layers are printed on clear mylar and photo-shot onto prepared silkscreens. The colors are printed in order, light to dark, with the black layer printed last.  Hand-printed silkscreens are multiple originals. This lithograph has a limited edition of 30 with 5 Artist’s Proof. Each one is an original.

The Daily Commute  has also been in a number of exhibitions including Minnesota Funk at the Katherine E. Nash Gallery at the University of Minnesota, Insolvent, a Printmaking Exhibition at Big Table Studio in St. Paul and Minnesota Surrealists, a two-person exhibition at the Hopkins Center for the Arts.
