Central Avenue Cultural District Community Gathering
My name is Ashley Koudou, and I have the privilege of being the first arts ambassador for the Minneapolis Cultural District of Central Avenue for 2024-25. As part of this role, I will be hosting a series of four gatherings focused on building connections, fostering dialogue, understanding challenges, and strengthening our district’s arts & culture community.
March 31, 2024 – City & Cultural Policy: Who Shapes Our Spaces?
- Theme: Understanding the System – Who Holds Power in the Cultural District?
- How does city policy impact artists, small businesses, and community spaces?
- What are the barriers artists and organizers face in utilizing public space?
- Where does funding come from, and how can we push for more accessible resources?
- Goal: Bridge the Department of Arts & Cultural Affairs to artists and community members, discuss funding streams, and identify advocacy opportunities.
