Steve Tetrick

I have been traveling and taking photos for much of my life. Most of my slides, negatives, and prints were simply set aside and rarely viewed by me or anyone else. With the advent of the iPad, I began to share my photos with more friends and acquaintances. The feedback was generally positive, accompanied with the comment, “You have an eye.” My initial response was, “Nice, but what will I do with it?” Eventually, I decided to participate in art fairs, like “Art-A-Whirl,” and the “St. Paul Art Crawl”. The next step was doing solo exhibits at some coffee shops in the Twin Cities.

Most of my travel has been in Europe with a particular interest in Germany, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Other destinations have included Brazil, Mexico and Algeria. In my travels, when I arrive at a destination for the first time, I frequently wander around for the better part of a day before taking my first photo. It is difficult to know what to photograph until I develop a feel for the place. While some photos capture a fleeting moment, others reflect the mood of the location. Both are important in telling the story of a place. My photos are a mix of street photography including people and animals, as well as architectural and urban landscape.
