My name is Lisa, and I am an emerging artist and a member of the Grand Portage Band of Ojibwe. I began making beadwork in 2024 to share a piece of my heritage and to celebrate all the women who have been decorating and adorning for centuries. Kwe means “woman” in Ojibwe and it encompasses all the power of women as keepers of family and traditions.
