Katy is an Artist living and working in Minneapolis, MN. Her work is informed by the natural beauty of Minnesota and the amazing Boreal Forest. Katy loves to hike and sail on the rugged North Shore of Lake Superior.
Katy paints with the ancient method of Encaustic (Bees wax, resin and Oil paint) on wood panel, exploring the movement and light refraction in water. She studies and paints waves, rivers, and waterfalls and the creatures of the Boreal Forest. Whenever an animal shows itself it ends up depicted in a painting or piece of pottery.
Katy also works with clay as a ceramic artist. She designs simple pottery using antique Korean pottery tools. The pots are decorated with paintings honoring the animals and birds of our region.
