Greg Feinberg

Greg’s visual art is a reflection of his interactions with and observations of the natural world, especially the flora, fauna and fungi he encounters everyday.

His work never aims to produce realistic or lifelike images. Instead it incorporates natural cycles, ecologies, abstraction, the fantastical and the act of observation itself. The final result is an expressionist field guide or an abstract phenology text.

His work is predominately digital. Each image starts with a series of observations that will by recorded by some combination of rough sketches, notes and photographs.

Greg is a professional naturalist and longtime resident of Northeast Minneapolis. Much of his artistic output can be found under the Distracted Naturalist moniker.
