Greg’s art is a reflection of his interactions with and observations of the natural world.
His work incorporates natural cycles, ecologies, diagrams and abstraction. The final result is an expressionist field guide or joyful ecology manual.
His work is predominately digital illustration. Each work starts with a series of field observations that are recorded as rough sketches, notes and photographs.
His ultimate goal is to invite people into a closer look and relationship with nature; that “nature” is here and now and is as ubiquitous in a pristine wilderness as it is in a weedy neighborhood alley.
Greg is a professional naturalist and longtime resident of Northeast Minneapolis. Much of his artistic output can be found under the Distracted Naturalist moniker.
