B(r)utyl Rubber

Ahoy! I’m Miche. I like to make jewelry and other goods out of used rubbers.

My company, B(r)utyl Rubber, is a project that I created in 2019 with the goal of giving second life to my used bicycle tubes. I started with making bike tube earrings for myself, but things quickly grew as I began looking for unique styles and new ways to reuse tubes for myself and others. Since 2019, I have expanded to making bike tube chokers, blanket/yoga mat holders, keychains, belts, u-lock holsters, and plenty of other unique one off offerings. In addition to tube jewelry/art, I also make bottlecap and acorn magnets filled with tube pieces/dried flowers in resin, as well as stickers and prints of my pen and ink drawings that go match my brands’ outdoor, bike punk aesthetic.

If you’ve never come across bike tube jewelry or goods before, they’re lightweight, extremely durable, waterproof/weatherproof, and a great vegan leather alternative. I mainly source my Butyl Rubber bike tubes from various bike shop recycling bins or my friend’s various misfortunes, so my materials are all locally retired. As someone sharing up-cycled goods from and to the community, It’s important to me to offer an accessible price point for all of my items at local shows. I hope to see you out there!

When I’m not surrounded by tubes and rubber trimmings, I oil paint and draw with pen and ink. I typically draw strange characters I meet, but lately I’ve been in an unexplainable clown phase. I love drawing for posters/community events!
