Andy Jacobs

As an interdisciplinary artist, my practice is rooted in fibers and textiles, while I also utilize the mediums of installation, video, and sculpture to explore the field of intrinsic relations found in the study of ecology. By excavating organic forms on the loom that reference cell-structures, mycelium, geologic forms, and living creatures, my work aims to rekindle severed connections between our species and the more-than-human world. 

My studio in the Casket Arts Building (studio 413) in the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. I have lived on both coasts, earning my BFA in Fine Arts from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, and my MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at Maine College of Art and Design, in Portland, Maine. I’ve been an artist in residence at Vermont Studio Center, The Verdancy Project, and Light Grey Art Lab, and have shown work both locally and nationally.
