My working method is a combination of conscious structuring and spontaneous excitation. I like the idea of coaxing a figure from the interplay of marks, lines, shapes and colors – “grasping” it as it emerges from the general abstraction. I like the expressive potential of figures or images which have been derived in this way. These “distorted” images, with their connotations and ambiguities, are, for me, often more exciting than dealing with forms that “actually” exist.
