Life-long interest and passion.
Ceramic sculpture, printmaking.
Since childhood.
Early childhood artwork, archeology, art history, contemporary art.
Studio location (California Building) and arts community.
Art-A-Whirl helps bring curious neighbors and others to my studio to look at and sometimes purchase art.
I love having a diverse community engaging with my work. I’ve had a range of studio visitors from savvy art buyers to local neighbors with young children. One particular Art-A-Whirl I had a surprising number of visitors ask me about the inspiration for my work. Some good conversations followed.
I deeply value being part of the NE arts community and appreciate the publicity and interested generated for open studios by NEMAA
That NE Minneapolis is a vibrant art community with a large concentration of the Twin Cities’ most committed artists.
Art generates interest and brings visitors and revenue to the area.
Can’t really picture that.
I hope the arts continue to grow and flourish in NE Minneapolis and hope more exhibition venues emerge. I also hope the area doesn’t become too gentrified and squeeze out the artists.
Maintain/ increase affordable housing affordable studios.
There is nothing I’d rather do than make art. I make artwork that is accessible yet challenges and engages people.
This project is made possible through a generous gift from the Minneapolis Foundation.
