Hi, I’m Neha — an avid backpacker, vegetarian since birth, and the founder of NOMaste, a small-batch freeze-dried food company rooted in culture, sustainability, and adventure.

NOMaste was born on the trail. During a hike in Tahoe’s Pacific Crest Trail, my homemade vegan sandwich spoiled by day two, leaving me without nourishing food for the rest of the trip. That moment sparked a question: Why can’t plant-based adventurers have flavorful, protein-packed meals that travel well and taste like home?

NOMaste is my answer — inspired by Indian spices, global flavor profiles, and a belief that food for the trail should be just as thoughtful and soulful as food at home.

What I Make:

I handcraft freeze-dried vegetarian and vegan meals that are:

• 100% plant-based (no animal products, no preservatives)

• Made in Minneapolis

• Nutritionally balanced and packed with flavor

• Lightweight, shelf-stable, and trail-ready

Why It Matters:

As a woman of color, an outdoor enthusiast, and a lifelong vegetarian, I created NOMaste to reflect underrepresented voices in both the outdoor and food space. Each recipe is infused with personal memories, spices from my Indian heritage, and a commitment to environmental stewardship.
