How and why did you become an artist?

I grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, with my parents and three sisters. My parents always fostered our curiosity and artistic interests, and our home was a hub of creativity. We had a dedicated workspace in the den for sewing and painting, and various art projects. My dad’s artwork adorned the walls. Art was simply a part of our everyday lives.

I discovered my passion for jewelry making in middle school, where I had the opportunity to create my first piece in an art class. My Art teacher played a pivotal role in igniting my love for this craft and setting me on the path I’m on today.

What medium(s) do you work in?

Fine Custom Jewelry and Modern Micro Mosaics.

How long have you been working as an artist?

45 years as a professional goldsmith.

What are some of your biggest inspirations as an artist?

I have always been fascinated by unusual gemstones and love creating unique pieces that showcase their beauty. I also enjoy working with clients to repurpose their old jewelry, transforming it into something new and meaningful.

Additionally, my Modern Micro Mosaic jewelry is inspired by Italian Micromosaics, but with a contemporary twist. I draw inspiration from quilts, artwork, and the natural world to create modern designs.
