Young Girls Anger Suppression Classes
Young Girls Anger Suppression Classes is a hand-pulled lithograph. The image size is 7″ by 9″. The paper size is 8.5″ by 10.5″. The image is printed on Arches Cover, an archival rag paper. This image is available unframed and shrink wrapped. Framing is available upon request but may take 1-2 weeks.
This lithograph was completed at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. It is a 2-color lithograph, hand drawn and printed by Faye Passow. I apply a black rectangle of ink to a litho stone and then trace a line drawing of the image onto the ink surface, which has been buffed with talc for handling purposes. I then scrap out negative areas using single edge razor blades. The stone is etched, processed, re-etched and printed in black on Arches Cover, a rag paper. After a week or so of drying time a yellow/brown, mostly transparent ink is printed over the entire image. This deepens the black in the image and gives the whole work an aged and luminous feeling. Hand lithographs are multiple originals. This lithograph has a limited edition of 30 with 3 Artist’s Proofs. Each one is an original.
Young Girls Anger Suppression Classes has been shown in Unprepared, a two-person exhibition at the MAEP Gallery of the MIA in 2004, Trouble in Paradise, a Solo show at the Eau Claire Public Library in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Figuratively Speaking, also at the Eau Claire Public Library.
It is currently featured in an online exhibition for the First Unitarian Society’s “Art in the Gallery” program at www.fusgallery.org.
