MTL is a volunteer-driven member cooperative that provides access to tools, training, and shared workspace.  We pool and share resources with each other to reduce our environmental footprint and save money that can then be re-invested in our small businesses, homes, and neighborhoods. The core of our programming is a large inventory of hand and power tools (7,000+ items) that members can borrow for their projects. It’s part of our mission to empower artisans, makers, and crafters in their pursuits – and share tools and trade skills with one another.

  • Craft in Community at our branches. Let our shops serve as your studio!
Located in NE MPLS and in the Hamline/Midway neighborhood of St. Paul.
  • Borrow the tools you need to create or custom frame your art.
  • Share your skills and teach workshops through our collaborative.
  • Reach new markets for commissions, sales, and programming.
Join our list of MTL Makers or inquire about becoming an Artist in Residence.
  • Explore new mediums without the hefty price tag of specialized tools.
