Handmade Wooden Robin Sculpture
We have always loved the simplicity of mid-century modern bird sculptures, and using our signature Baltic birch europly, we decided a robin needed to be in our collection. These wooden robins are a unique piece, and a great addition to any home – perhaps their symbolic nature as “the beacon to Spring” will help you get through those long winter nights (can you tell our company is based in Minnesota?)
Taking inspiration from the Eames House Bird, we set out to create our own avian sculpture. The handmade wood robins were a very unique piece when we first added them to the collection, not having had any animal figurines before them, but they’ve sparked the imagination of our designer, and you can look forward to more creatures in the future.
The Robin is available in two styles. The simplest is the walnut face, where we carve the robin shape into a piece of Baltic birch europly with a walnut veneer. The more dynamic sculpture is the “edge” face, where we’ve layered the Baltic birch and turned it on its side. This version seems to almost lengthen the bird, and when viewing it straight on from the front or back, ripples in the layers appear and give a forward momentum and wings to the bird.
Handcrafted in Minneapolis.
