Join Annie Hejny, abstract visual artist and forest therapy guide, for an indoor and outdoor nature-based painting workshop. Throughout three days, students will be guided through Hejny’s water painting technique, including the collection process at White Bear Lake County Park. Hejny will lead a Forest Bathing walk at Tamarack Nature Center and then demonstrate how to observe and process visual inspiration in nature. In the classroom, students will move between acrylic on canvas to gouache and charcoal on paper, exploring abstract visual expressions of their nature-experiences within a suburban environment. These painting techniques may include but are not limited to: incorporating texture on canvas, color mixing and layering, shape and composition, using smartphone photography to inspire abstraction.

The first day will include a 45-min all-levels gentle yoga and meditation led by guest instructor, Amanda Leaveck of Live Deliciously. This movement, as well as other reflection activities, are meant to invite students into a sense of embodiment before diving into creativity. More details about the class format and the materials list will be provided by the instructor. This class will take place on and off site. A detailed schedule will be sent to students prior to class.

Tuition: $275 Member/$375 Non-Member
Material Fee: $40 Payable to Instructor
