With the Flow

A hand brushed cyanotype print of a waterfall I photographed in Oregon. Print is on watercolor paper and created from a transparency and the light from the sun. Print is 12×16 in size.

Cyanotypes, also known as ‘blue prints’ is an old 19th century photo process. Chemistry is mixed together and hand coated on the paper. Then light from the sun is used to expose the image. Instead of silver salts like most film and other darkroom processes use, cyanotypes are made with iron salts which gives it that distinct blue color.
