The Old Future Meets the New Future
The Old Future Meets the New Future is a hand-pulled lithograph. The image size is 14″ by 18″ and the paper size is 18″ by 22″. The image is printed on Arches Cover, an archival rag paper. This original lithograph is available unframed (shrink wrapped with foam core) or framed with a rag mat, black frame and archival materials including UV filtering glass. Contact me for an image of the framed artwork.
This lithograph was completed at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. It is a 4-color lithograph, hand drawn and printed by Faye Passow. The black run was drawn first using razor blades to achieve tone by scraping away a thin layer of ink from a fully inked litho stone. The stone has a fine texture and the scraping removes ink and particles of stone to reveal the light areas. This image is then printed on mylar and becomes the template for the color runs which are also drawn on a litho stone. Each color is drawn and printed separately. The black image is printed last. For this lithograph the colors, yellow, red and blue are transparent and overlap to produce other colors. Hand-printed lithographs are multiple originals. This lithograph has a limited edition of 24 with 2 Artist’s Proofs. Each one is an original.
The Old Future Meets the New Future won a Merit Award at the Minnesota State Fair and has been shown in Trouble in Paradise, a solo show at the Eau Claire Public Library in 2004 and Unprepared, a two person exhibition at the MAEP Gallery of the MIA in 2004.
It is currently featured in an online exhibition for the First Unitarian Society’s “Art in the Gallery” program at www.fusgallery.org.
