From a sketch of Sperlonga, Italy made in 2002. I was attending the American Academy in Rome’s Classical Summer School and we had visited the museum and cave whence a colossal statue of Polyphemus stabbed by Odysseus was discovered, possibly the dining room decoration for the emperor Tiberius, 1st century CE.
