In 2009, I visited Turin after connecting online with an Italian woman artist who told me  it would be a city I would enjoy. I had spent a week in Tuscany with friends and considered going to Milan for the “fashion”…but  my “penpal” Maria Rosa  said I must visit her and come to Turin! She showed me around, gave me a list of streets, cafes and sights she thought I’d find “paintable”…and even invited me to dinner in their historic apartment.
