Mounds Park Milkweed
I was with a group of artists painting outside at Mounds Park in St. Paul, Minnesota.
We had a great view of the Mississippi River and the tall buildings of downtown, but I chose to focus on this milkweed plant growing at the edge of the park where the mowed grass ends and the untended hillside begins.
The lines were drawn with a resist fluid pen. The paint was applied after the resist fluid dried and then removed after the paint dried. The expression, “like watching paint dry” does not have quite the same meaning for me as it does for most people.
This one sat in storage for a few years. It has grown on me. It was one of the ones I chose to frame for the July 2020 show in Park Rapids, Minnesota. It is back at Studio 321 Northrup King building now.
Original 11″x15″ framed watercolor on paper.
