Hand coated cyanotype print of a Komodo Dragons head. Image taken in Zion National Park and. Is coated  on watercolor paper and toned with strawberry leaves. Print is 12’x16′  in size.

Cyanotypes, also known as ‘blue prints’ is an old 19th century photo process. Chemistry is mixed together and hand coated on the paper. Then U.V light, like the sun, is used to expose the image. Instead of silver salts like most film and other darkroom processes use, cyanotypes are made with iron salts which gives it that distinct blue color.
