Lamp with Translucent Wood Shade

Translucent Wood Shade with Lamp. Solid wood shade and base. Hand made, one of a kind.

The frame of the shade is of hickory, bent while wet and then heat set
to shape. The shade weavers are of pine, generated using a
hand plane, set for approximately 1/64 inch. The wood is planed wet to
prevent breakage of the shaving ribbon. The weaver slots are slanted
fifteen degrees to encourage fluting of the weavers. The lamp base is
also hickory, a five sectioned repeat with the grain centered on each
face. The shape is based on the ancient Greek amphora vessel. The
vase interior is finished with mirror film to represent a filled vessel.
Also available with blue painted lamp base, or cherry wood. Shade available with dyed weavers or natural, also available in douglas fir.
