Katherine
Lady Katherine Grey could be seen as the ultimate rebellious teen. Cousin to Queen Elizabeth I, she married her teenage lover in secret. When the Queen found out, she imprisoned both Katherine, her husband Ned Seymour, and their children since Elizabeth feared Katherine’s and her children’s good claims for the succession. Katherine died in captivity, alone and heartbroken. This little plate is in her honor, and to celebrate the brief but intensely happy times of her short life in the shadow of the Tudor court.
Here’s to Katherine and her determination to be happy.
