Christmas Cactus
Painted in 2017, this 9×12 watercolor is an example of my process of creating abstract watercolor backgrounds, drawing on them using ink, and then adding detail. The mood of this one is somber. Once in a great while this plant blooms but not on the day I was drawing it.
