In the last 5 years I’ve been interested in breaking down landscape painting into the essence of line and shape. My composition process is like building story in the cutting room. I’m not sure what the story will be until I get into it but there is always a story unfolding in my process.
I almost exclusively work with oil paint, however, I started using Venetian plaster on the canvas in some paintings about 8 years ago as another texture dimension. Recently, with these latest paintings, I deliberately use it within my composition armature. I also experiment with monotype printing and paper.
