yellowbird coffee bar NE is proud to a part of NEMAA and the NE community in general! After starting this business in St. Paul over 5 years ago, plus surviving the pandemic, we made the decision to open the NE location. Based on what worked in St. Paul, our NE location will focus again on coffee (sourcing the very best coffee, teas, kombucha, pastries that can be found), conversation (a friendly barista awaits and welcomes you to sit with your neighbor, friend, colleague, or co-worker), and community (we partner with the NE neghborhood as a gathering spot).

yellowbird was formed after the owner, John, had a near-death experience and felt a longing for his community – the problem was where was his community? John set out to find his. yellowbird opened up in 2019 and got its name from a little yellow bird that his sister and he saw about the time his dad died. So the name elicits strong memories from his childhood where his mother would welcome all with a little something to eat or drink.
