Portrayal: Re-present
The Eagan Art House invites you to create or submit artworks for our winter exhibition, Portrayal: Re-present. How do we understand what it means to depict a person or place? Representation is rarely a simple record of a figure or scene. The artist has the power to shape the narrative in their work. Consider the following:
- How does your artwork tell a story? What details to you include or exclude?
- How do you construct meaning, identity and significance in the portrayal of someone, something, somewhere?
- Do you elevate, transcend, transform the story?
- How can you describe though non-representation?
We invite you to express your vision and interpretation of portrayal and representation, either with a traditional or contemporary approach. We welcome a wide array of media — photography, textiles, ceramics, digital artwork, painting, drawing, printmaking, etc. We will accept any artwork for in-person exhibition that can be safely displayed on a wall and meets display requirements. We can accommodate some smaller 3D works; please contact us with questions before you register.
Works will be exhibited both virtually and in-person from January 6, 2022 through March 31, 2022. Artists may exhibit their work online only. All work submitted to be shown in-person will be included online. Both established and emerging artists are invited to participate. Content must adhere to Eagan Art House requirements.

Cost: $5 per artist, financial assistance available upon request

Go to www.discovereagan.com, click “Register & Reserve.” Complete registration by searching for activity #11038001, adding to cart and answering questions. You may also call the Eagan Parks & Recreation office at 651-675-5500 to register.
To complete entry, email a high-resolution digital image of each artwork to artexhibits@cityofeagan.com by registration deadline, including title, date and medium. Images should be 1080px wide and at least 150dpi.
Bring your wired, labeled artwork to the exhibition location on Artwork Drop off day. Full details about drop off will be emailed. Refer to the Artwork Preparation Instructions for wiring your artwork. We are unable to display artwork that is not properly wired.
