Jacob Z. Wan explores intimacy through immersive works through June’s Pride Month at Friedli Gallery
St. Paul, MN – Upcoming art exhibition at Friedli Gallery, “Vol.2 Twogether” is a solo exhibition of Jacob Z. Wan that explores the intimacy and closeness of the relationship from the LGBTQ experience. Opening reception is June 2nd, 6-8pm. This exhibition continues through July 29th, 2023. By using materials and objects from the bedroom, Wan creates a dreamy atmosphere for audiences to immerse themselves in waves of emotions and layers of love. With a collection of paintings, books, paper objects, and installations. Vol.2 Twogether expresses the longing and belonging of a gay man and a celebration of the importance of oneself.
Wan is a contemporary bookbinder whose research focuses on conceptual books and the materiality of bookmaking. In addition to his traditional books, book objects, and book installations, Wan also combines performance, time art, and social practice into his bookmaking.
