Learn woodworking skills in this hands-on class, where you’ll take home a festive display piece made of repurposed materials!
Participants will create a Christmas tree shaped wooden frame using 1 x 6 boards, then assemble tin cans inside to hold and reflect a string of colorful Christmas lights. The class will cover project layout & planning, use of the miter saw for angles tighter than 90 degrees, and framing using wood glue & screws – techniques that can be used for any number of other DIY projects.
The finished product will be a two foot tall by twenty inch wide triangle tree, with a five by five inch wooden base that can be customized as desired.
This class is two sessions long; participants must be able to attend both sessions. Day 1 (12/16, 6–9pm) will focus on framing; Day 2 (12/17, 6–9pm) will focus on assembly.
