Discover the art of pottery in our 6-week Wheel Throwing Clay Workshop, designed for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Join us for a hands-on experience where you’ll learn the foundational techniques of creating beautiful ceramic pieces on the potter’s wheel.
Workshop Highlights:

Introduction to Wheel Throwing: Understand the basics of working with clay and the mechanics of the potter’s wheel. We will guide you through each step, and support you as you discover the nuances of the wheel.

Clay Preparation: Learn how to properly wedge and prepare your clay, it’s like kneading except opposite.

Centering Techniques: What does centering mean? It means the clay is in the middle of the wheel, a round hockey puck as the base to pull from. This can be one of the trickest parts for begginers.

Forming and Shaping: Explore various shaping techniques to create bowls, cups. Our instructors will demonstrate and assist you in pulling up the walls of your clay and refining your shapes.

Trimming and Finishing: After your pieces have dried to the leather-hard stage, you’ll learn how to trim on the wheel and explore other finishing techniques.

Glazing: Explore glazing, iconically a love hate relationship with potters. You’ll have the oppertunity to use our full glaze palate and learn different techniques of getting the glaze onto the pot as well as embelishing and layering.

Firing Process: We won’t get too far into kilns in a begginer workshop, but you will learn a bit about kilns and firing temperatures and how the process works.
