More on the exhibition:
Fresh Eye Gallery presents Revolutionary: The Feminine Perspective Beyond 50, a group exhibition curated by Christi Furnas, showcasing the power, talent, and creativity of women and femmes aged 50 years and older.
“Feminine artists who continue their journey for a lifetime, despite being undermined by the larger arts community, speaks to their tenacity and strength. Their will to overcome, to continue to create beauty and inspire our souls, this is what I want to showcase.”
– Christi Furnas, Curator
The feminine and gender nonconforming perspective has an unsurpassable value that has historically been overlooked, discarded, and ultimately not equally represented in the art world. In addition, women and femme artists experience significant ongoing disparities and invisibility as they age, creating a different level of truth during their lifetime. A part of our society’s soul has been left with a void due to gender bias and ageism. Revolutionary stands up against this to advocate for change, displaying artwork and voices from artists who have remained committed to their artistic practice, in face of such challenges.
Exhibiting artists range in age from 50 to 92 years old. Artworks include paintings, prints, sculptures, jewelry, textiles, mixed media, and mosaics.
Exhibition Dates:: Feb 15 – March 25, 2023
