Encaustic Workshops Minneapolis – Working with Wax and Studio Time
Socially-distanced workshops limited to 3 participants.
In this exciting one-day Encaustic workshop, you will explore creating translucent, layered paintings only achieved with molten beeswax. A brief history and description of Encaustic painting will be discussed as well as basic supplies and tools, safety, preparation of supports including application of grounds and fusing. An overview of a variety of techniques will be demonstrated such as image transfers, mixing your own paint, creating texture and working with masks and stencils. There will also be lots of studio time and one-on-one instruction. You will create paintings that will develop your aesthetic and artistic voice with this medium. This class could also be used as studio time if you have taken a class with me before. All levels welcome and all supplies are provided.

My 950 square-foot studio is fully equipped with standing-height work tables, ventilation, adjustable heat guns and torches. All supplies provided including R&F encaustic medium, paint, gesso and oil pigment sticks. Also, included is an Ampersand Encausticbord panel and Silverbrush hake brushes. Feel free to bring more panels to work on depending on your working style. Each student has their own work station with social distancing and the workshop will be limited to 3 students.
