Modern Boro

Japanese Boro was originally created out of necessity. Boro uses small scraps of precious fabric, carefully stitched together, to create a larger cloth or repair garments. In this class, students will learn a brief history of Boro and then create a Boro cloth or repaired garment. Precious fabrics will be collaged using a running stitch, or Sashiko stitch, to hold it together. You are welcome to bring your own precious fabric scraps, or garments for repair / repurposing. Each finished piece will be approximately 11” x 17”. Materials fee $20, payable to the instructor. **See supply list of items to bring to class**
