Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts Presents dis- a- re- featuring artist Greg Lecker

(Fridley, MN) – Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts (BLCA) is pleased to announce dis- a- re-, an exhibition featuring the works of BLCA Artist in Resident (and NEMAA artist!), Greg Lecker. The exhibition is on view from July 28 through August 25. There will be an Opening Reception and Celebration on July 28 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. An Artist Talk will be held on August 11 at 2:00 p.m.

About the Exhibition:

A painter who loves his medium, Lecker celebrates its application especially in his plein air work, which has been described as energetic and chaotic up close; then coming together as confidently rendered light & objects when viewed from a distance. Lecker brings a sense of urgency in the works around the subject of natural water. He captures nature’s water in all its forms and the emotions associated with the season in which the natural setting is found. His ultimate goal in this new work is to bring about conversations around water quality issues in our natural environment.

About the Artists:

Lecker studied Architectural Engineering at Pennsylvania State University and attended the School of Visual Arts, New York City, as well as, with plein air artists Joe Paquet and Mary Pettis. Most recently, He was selected by The Science Museum of Minnesota as a 2018 Pine Needles Artist-in-Residence, at Pine Needles, a program that aims to connect art and science. Lecker is an active member in the Outdoor Painters of Minnesota, Minnesota Artist Association, and Northeast Minneapolis Artist Association, and is a University of Minnesota Master Naturalist.
