As an accomplished illustrator for many familiar, national publications Thomas Fluharty revels in the ability to paint what he wants in his own “free time” and without the constraints of editors, art directors, and deadlines. As I was Going Along… is a celebration of Fluharty’s talent for capturing what has grabbed his attention over the past 35 years.  This survey of his artwork will encompass a large range of subjects from dogs to politicians and many things in between.

“Andrew Wyeth was once asked how he stayed motivated over his 90-year career and he answered with the following:  ‘I’ll be going along and I’ll see a piece of barbed-wire with a piece of horse’s mane stuck on it and it’ll just get me going.’  Andrew Wyeth’s fascination with life and being captivated for days drawing the things that ‘grabbed him’ sums up my life perfectly, as well. I find myself going along and all of a sudden I see something that moves me and I’m gone for days excitedly drawing that very thing that grabbed me.”  – Thomas Fluharty
