My work is an amalgamation of personal experiences layered with exploration and inspiration. The landscape is the perfect genre to investigate the flux in our physical environment while considering the emotional connections between time and place. I choose to work from an elevated or aerial vantage point allowing the viewer to choose and experience their own path.
The materials I work with are inherently beautiful and seductive in themselves. Brushstrokes, the layering of paint and contrasting colors breath life into my canvas. Patterns and textures resonate within me and often particular combinations trigger a visual direction. The conventional painted surface is collaged with the irony of digital imagery merged with handmade papers. A visual language of marks evokes the memory of the initial inspiration while carrying on a conversation between intuition and abstraction.
My intention is to achieve a unified tapestry of form, movement, direction and flow. Architectural and organic structures become metaphorical or physical bridges between paths traveled and those which lie ahead.
