Canvas Apartments, a new affordable housing development, is being built in Northeast Minneapolis at 2301 California St NE. The developer LS Black has contracted NEMAA and Public Functionary to facilitate a call for an artists for an exterior sculpture, digital art for interior murals, and a licensing of artwork images for interior artwork throughout the six-story residential complex.

Applications will request contact info, a letter of interest, and work samples. Do not submit proposals for artworks at this time.
Artist Compensation:
- Exterior Sculpture: $77,000. $1,000 each will be paid to three finalists for design concepts.
- Digital Artwork for Interior Murals: $2,500 for main entrance mural. $1,500 for elevator lobby murals (five). Deadline: September 7, 2023.
- Interior Artworks: Licensing fee of $300 per artwork. Artists can expect one to five artworks to be selected. Deadline: September 7, 2023.
