Photographed as a college project in 1978, this moth-balled collection of black and white 35mm Kodak Tri-X film negatives are seeing the light of day after 43 years.

Called T H I N K A Z T E C, the collection of purposely shot low angle gritty urban frozen moments, features curbs from a worm’s eye view. Pretty simple.

The size and scope of pyramids created by the Aztecs originally came to mind as I began this project in the Spring of 1978, an idea that became more intriguing as a style after seeing Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte at the Art Institute of Chicago. The size of the painting in person was a huge surprise, and so impressive, and helped solidify the idea to use low perspective for this collection. All about the drama.

Shot mostly in Chicago, there are some in NYC.
