Rita Dungey

My paintings are layered snapshots that document the beauty, variety, and subtle shifting of moment-to-moment thoughts and feelings related to natural seascapes and landscapes I have encountered.  I am interested in color, process, materials, and energetic flow.   My intention is to explore and create works that generate positive life force and present a conduit for infusion of health, joy, courage, spontaneity, or a time to simply be in the present moment.

My website displays additional bodies of work which are more abstract, less representational.    The heart of these works involves the same creative journey through layers of time, forms, colors, and spaces.  I start a painting with complete openness and trust how a composition will unfold and where it will take me.  My process involves leaving some things to nature, where seemingly unrelated components cross paths, interact, and organize.
