Hello! I’m a fine artist originally from the San Francisco Bay Area with a BA in Art from Southern Oregon University. After leaving University in 2008, I took an almost 15-year hiatus from creating until that fateful January 2021 day where I leaned over my desk, busted out dusty 20-year-old pastel pencils, and drew the first thing I knew had to be drawn – a female nude!

With dry media being my personal preference, I primarily focus on using purposeful and often intense shadow play on the human form to help aid the figure in abstracting itself to the viewer. I am intrigued with the concept of multiple planes of view, where my close-up body work can be viewed from multiple perspectives to create a new way of looking at the nude figure, or even with other varying subject matter including florals. I often delve in realism, but like to take a step back and experiment with expressionistic mark-making to loosen up my style from time to time.

My new work consists of combining the two main focuses above – shadow play for natural abstraction and multiple view points – along with new floral components to bring a new conversation to my artwork: Which side is up and which is down? Does it matter? What matters most to you and how you view the world?

My stained glass creations, where most turn into plant stakes which I lovingly dub, “art for your plants”, are created using 99% scrap or donated glass to help lessen glass waste and to challenge myself creatively. Using these scraps enables me to work with a limited palette, working with color, texture, shape, negative space, and size to create one-of-a-kind pieces for your plants and home.
