Popperie Art

My art celebrates nature’s rhythm, color and texture.  I express this through vibrant acrylic and watercolor landscapes and mixed media explorations that balance structure and spontaneity.  

In my landscapes, rich acrylic and watercolor hues capture flowing waters and forests of Northern Minnesota, the Cascade mountains and the landscapes of Scandinavia.  

Lately, my curiosity has deepened in mixed media.  Inspired by natural textures and patterns, I blend color with fibers, beads, found objects, watercolor and acrylics.  I find joy and meditative calm in the repetition of hand stitched lines, drawing from Norwegian krokbragd, Japanese sashiko, and other traditional embroidery.  The creative possibilities seem endless.  

I seek harmony between tradition and transformation, fluidity and structure, while always evoking joy, beauty and peace in nature.  I hope my work invites viewers to pause, look closer, and engage with curiosity.
