Drawing · Writing
My current mediums are drawing, writing, photography and editorial collage; previous to these I designed my own clothes- this is where Dēspö was created; next will be film, and eventually music. I set goals based on production so that I’m able to move between mediums without much overlap, and I’ve found that this process limits distraction and allows me to focus on and achieve what I deem to be success within whichever medium(s) I am currently working.
The joy of creation is an end, in and of itself, and this is my primary goal as an artist: to create, and to keep creating, until I die.
A secondary goal, but one which is no less important to me, is to connect with both artists and audiences through the work that we create, and observe. I love to meet new people and to hear about their lives, and I’ve found that the work is a powerful way for me to build connections- which is something that I am not very good at otherwise.
Lastly, I’d like to explore the relationship between the art, the artist, and the audience. Does the audience need to like the artist in order to appreciate the art? If the artist has behaved in reprehensible ways, as I often have, are they then disqualified from material/commercial/critical success? I have a personal connection to these sorts of questions, and I hope to find some answers through my work.
I try to avoid social media, but I do have a LinkedIn page:
However the best way to reach me is by email:
