MARJORIE SCHALLES

I have been living and painting in Minneapolis since moving here from California in 1991. I am honored share my art with the visitors to this website and catalog. Viewing art away from the constraints of a gallery or a class is such a personal experience; the observer may look as long as they wish, with no pressure to understand the piece or process information provided by an instructor. What the viewer sees is the first impression, which is always the most meaningful.

Though not an “art student” in the traditional sense, I have received private training from several talented individuals in Minnesota and have also received training through my attendance at many artists’ retreats, life drawing cooperatives, and symposia.

I teach art classes to individuals in my studio and at various venues; I am a member of several artists’ societies and associations. Teaching art and collaborating with fellow artists is the greatest pastime I could hope for.
