Painting is a process of self discovery. My main concerns in painting are color, mood, rhythm and spontaneity. Music, nature, dreams and the subconscious all play a part in the formation of my work. Watercolor and oils are my usual media. My current large works are oil & cold wax on Arches oil paper, mostly abstract. I work intuitively but with intention, playing with combining abstraction and natural spaces. I strive to suggest rather than depict a scene and/or stir up a memory. I like mystery and ambiguity in a painting. Where one viewer might see a scene through a rain streaked window, another experiences a veil of tears. My work has been influenced by the Abstract Expressionists, Chinese landscape painting and Japanese woodblock prints.
For Fall Open Studios I am highlighting my small watercolors which are painted on location. Please see my website for over 50 unframed watercolors on special for this event. The larger abstracts and other work are also available to view on the website or in person. To purchase, please call or email me. You may also purchase through my online shop. Curbside pickup is available. Home studio is open Saturday, November 9, 2024, Noon-5 PM. We live in a renovated old brick church near the state fairgrounds. Thank you for your interest in my work!
