Photography is a lifelong passion for me, it’s truly what I love to do. My art heavily influenced by architecture, we have so many interesting buildings and bridges in the Twin Cities, and I love incorporating them in my work. I enjoy exploring color and value in my photography. One of my favorite times to shoot is during the “blue hour,” which is just before or just after the sun sets. During the blue hour, the city lights have been turned on, but the sky still has color, which casts the city in a beautiful light.
I also like to photograph during or right after a fresh snowfall. Several years ago, I decided to embrace Minnesota in all of its beauty, snow and all. Fresh snow acts as a natural reflector bouncing soft light all around, creating enchanting scenes begging to be captured. I have developed a significant body of work featuring winter weather. In fact, one of my most well-known photos was taken on a January afternoon during a blustery walk across the Stone Arch Bridge. Minneapolis is my favorite city and I feel fortunate to live here: close to incredible arts, architecture, while being close to of beautiful lakes and nature.
In addition to photography, I am a sculptor. I trained under Aldo Moroni building imaginary worlds one little tower or building at a time. At our studio we offer classes where students can learn to build their very own Aldo Moroni style tower. We are not running any classes during Art-A-Whirl® but we will be pre-registering people for summer classes over the course of the weekend.
