Lara is a visual artist fascinated by both the French culture she has grown to love, as well as the Scandinavian culture she has been immersed in while growing up in Minnesota. Coming from a long line of artisans, she is passionate about heritage crafts with her particular obsession being gold gilding inspired by the many French castles she has visited. Lara’s business donates to various Castle Restoration projects around Europe which hire local artisans skilled in heritage crafts, along with donating to art restoration projects in Europe and the United States. When sourcing supplies for her projects, she works only with other sustainable businesses whenever possible, such as non-toxic earth pigments from France, and ethically sourced gold from a 400 yo Italian business. Currently, she is completing a Masters from MCAD in Sustainable and Biomimetic Design and has focused her attention to creating completely sustainable art that is circular from soil to soil focusing on earth and botanicals for materials. More information in her newest book The Sustainable Maker and one her website LaraCornell.com.
Lara is also the Best Selling author of 2 books: Maker’s Mark: Make a Living and an Impact with Your Artisan Business and The Sustainable Maker: Better Strategies for Streamlined Success within a Creative World. She is the Founder of Artisan & Company and the Sustainable Artisan Guild helping other artisans build Legacies.
